I have always been acutely aware of the emotional sufferings of others and felt the need to do something about it. I developed an interest in counseling through my work with older adults and elders navigating the aging process, supporting individuals receiving hospice services and their loved ones, and my work as a treatment foster parent to a young man with autism. Through these experiences I have worked with clients seeking help for a variety of life challenges such as depression, suicidality, PTSD, abuse, death and dying, grief and loss, and more. I graduated with a degree in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon where my training included work with individuals, couples, and families.
I support individual clients in identifying, activating, and strengthening their inner resources to promote healing from depression, anxiety, and stress, among other challenges. As a systemic therapist, I am skilled at helping couples and families work through relationship challenges, such as communication problems, infidelity, and parenting issues. I offer clients a variety of coping tools including mindfulness practices, visualizations, and grounding and orienting strategies. Counseling can be a helpful way to develop the emotional resources and tools needed to cope with these challenges and aid you in recovering joy and enthusiasm. Call for a free initial phone consultation to see if I might be the right therapist to help you. Calling for help is the first courageous step towards receiving it.
